About the Holiday
Humanitarian Day is the first of three Emancipation Days of Respect that honor Martin Luther King, Jr., and are dedicated to promoting unity, respect and remembrance for those who've struggled and sacrificed to end segregation. This first holiday honors the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. by observing his birthday on January 15th, 1929. People should wear white on this day to show respect and remembrance of those who helped to bring down the laws of racial segregation in America.
