Veep Day is not the celebration of the Vice President, or the Vice Presidency. Rather, it's the commemoration of the presidential succession provisions in the US Constitution. It was on August 9th, 1974 that Gerald Ford ascended to the presidency upon Richard Nixon's resignation.
