Men's Grooming Day was developed because with the increased closing of barbershops, men have little choice but to visit discount hair cutting shops or salons that cater to women. Gone are the days when men would go to the local barbershop to get a haircut and a shave while enjoying the company of other men. Most men get a functional haircut and are quickly on their way. This holiday is about reminding men there is more than a shower and quick shave to getting ready. The purpose is to get salon's and other hair cutting establishments to pay more attention to their male clients.
