About the Holiday
American Eagle Day recognizes our national symbol and raises awareness about this special species that was almost lost to extinction only a few decades ago. While the Bald Eagle was officially removed from the threatened and endangered species list in 2007, much still needs to be done to re-extend the habitat of this majestic bird.
A resolution proclaiming this holiday was passed by the U.S. Congress in 2007-2010 and by many state Governors.
