Atomic Bomb Day marks the observance of the first test of technology of a nuclear weapon, which took place at the Trinity test site in Los Alamos, New Mexico on this day in 1945. The Trinity test was part of the Manhattan Project, the codename for the World War II effort, conducted primarily by the United States, to develop the first atomic bomb.
