The holiday was first celebrated in 1954 and its name comes from the Leopold Bloom, the main character in the novel.[1] Events held in conjunction with this holiday include readings of Ulysses, pub crawls, James Joyce look-alike contests, and the retracing of Bloom's route around Dublin.
