About the Holiday
Campfire Girls Day was founded on this day in 1910 by Luther Gulick M.D. and his wife Charlotte Vedder Gulick in Thetford, Vermont. It was the sister organization to the Boy Scouts of America. In 1975 the name was changed to Camp Fire Boys and Girls and in 2001 to Camp Fire USA as it is referred to today.
