About the Holiday

Give me an "A"! On Cheer Coach Day we thank the coaches who bring their never-ending energy and enthusiasm to coach our cheerleading squads. School and team spirit wouldn't be the same without you! Crowd cheers during sporting events dates back to as early as 1877 at Princeton University, and the first known instance of designated "Cheer Leaders" dates back to 1897, also at Princeton.^[1]
