About the Holiday
Chrysanthemum Day is one of five ancient sacred festivals of Japan and is celebrated on the 9th day of the 9th month. This holiday started in 910 A.D. when Japan declared the chrysanthemum as the national flower. It is still the symbol of the ruling family in Japan. Also referred to as Mums, this popular perennial's meanings include the sun, happiness, fidelity, and optimism. In Feng Shui it is said to bring laughter, long life, and happiness. Some people drink chrysanthemum tea. These flowers are one of the most poplar flowers sold between August and November. The flower's range of colors include yellow, orange, red, purple, bronze, pink and white.
