About the Holiday
Mooooo... Eat mor chikin. July 15th is Cow Appreciation Day. We're not sure what it is, but in American culture there is definitely something that is both funny and cool about cows. This holiday is a day to celebrate and appreciate the cow.
We were unable to locate the creator or origin of this holiday. There is some discrepancy with the date being July 15th...
- Chick-fil-A has been celebrating Cow Appreciation Day on the 2nd Friday of July since at least 2005. On this day, if you go to a Chick-fil-A fully dressed as a cow you receive a free combo meal. Though, other than Chick-fil-A and references to their promotion, we haven't seen evidence of other entities affirming this 2nd Friday of July date.
- A number of blogs reference this holiday as being celebrated on July 18th, though we've found more sites that list this holiday as July 15th.
