About the Holiday
Distaff Day, or Saint Distaff Day is a holiday that dates back to medieval Europe which marks the day after the 12 Days of Christmas ends. Traditionally this is when people would go back to work after the holiday and the distaff, used in spinning yarn and threads, was a symbol of women's work. This holiday is also known as Rock Day as rock was another name for the distaff.
