About the Holiday
Freedom of Information Day is celebrated on March 16 which is the birthday of the fourth president of the U.S.A. James Madison in 1751. He's been considered the Father of the First Amendment, the Father of the Constitution, and the Founding Father of the Freedom of Information. Freedom of Information Day was recognized by a Congressional Joint Resolution in 1989. Today we celebrate the freedom of open records and information. This includes judges, librarians, educators, layers, government officials, and journalists.
