About the Holiday
Isn't it appropriate that this day falls just a couple of days after Christmas? Giving fruitcake for Christmas appears to be a tradition for some, while it seems that even fewer will actually eat the fruitcake they receive. It's believed that many "re-gift" the fruitcakes they receive for Christmas (probably the reason why this holiday is celebrated after Christmas). There's a joke that somewhere out there's a 100 year old fruitcake that just keeps getting passed around. Celebrate Fruitcake Day by either eating the fruitcake you've received or by giving (or re-gifting) a fruitcake.
