About the Holiday
Take a vacation day from work, pack a lunch and drop your line - it's Go Fishing Day. This holiday occurs close to National fishing and boating week and many states offer free fishing days (no fishing license required) during the month of June. See a list of states and dates that allow free fishing at TakeMeFishing.org
This recreational sport is available most anywhere there is a lake, river, pond, stream, or ocean. Some places allow you to keep the fish you catch while others limit what you can keep or have you put the fish back in the water also known as catch and release. Supplies needed to fish include rod, reel, line, hooks, sinkers, fishing net, long-nose pliers, and ice chest if you can keep your catch. Don't forget to purchase and have with you a fishing license.
The Old Farmer's Almanac provides a list of the best days and times to fish.
