About the Holiday

Hug Holiday Day was founded by the Hugs for Health Foundation. The idea of this holiday is to give a hug to the elderly, sick, and disabled. A hug can give the receiver (and giver) warmth, cheer, energy, and love. The foundation's website states the Hugger's Creed as "We believe HUGS nurture the human spirit, promote a more positive outlook and enhance the quality of one's life."
