About the Holiday
Kid Inventors' Day, or K.I.D., is a day to encourage kid's to invent. Many great inventions such as the popsicle, earmuffs, television and water skis were invented by kids. Kids have such a great imagination and see the world in a uniquely different way than adults which lets them pickup on many potential sources of ideas that we adults have filtered out.
This day is observed on the birthday of one of the world's most famous inventors, Benjamin Franklin, who was born on January 17th, 1706, and who was also a kid inventor with his invention of swimming fins at the age of 12 years old. See the Kid Inventors Day website for more info.
