About the Holiday
Lame Duck Day is a day to recognize those whose tenure in a position is running out. This is seen when a politician has lost a November election but they still have a few months before they are out the door. The day is a remembrance of the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that lessened the amount of time between election day and the beginning of the presidential, vice president, or congressional term.
