About the Holiday

Look for Circles Day is geared to youngsters but is really for anyone that wants to spend the day looking for this interesting shape. You can spot circles at home, school, work, or in nature. Merriam-Webster.com defines a circle as "a perfectly round shape: a line that is curved so that its ends meet and every point on the line is the same distance from the center." The perimeter of a circle is called the circumference. A circle has an infinite number of lines of symmetry. Circles are symbols of infinity as they have a line that never ends.

Gyromancy is a fortune telling type practice in which participants keep walking in a circle until they are so dizzy they fall down. The outcome is supposed to make a prediction or prophesy.
