About the Holiday

Monkey Day is a holiday that is celebrated internationally to raise awareness of issues surrounding monkeys. People commonly celebrate this holiday by having costume parties intended to draw attention to the issues faced by monkeys including medical research, animal rights and evolution.

This holiday began in 2000 when a Casey Sorrow wrote "Monkey Day" on a friends calendar as a joke and it was first celebrated by students at Michigan State University.
