About the Holiday
Mother Goose Day is a day to celebrate and show your appreciation for those beloved nursery rhymes that were such a big part of many people's childhoods. Just who is Mother Goose, the answer is lots of people, according to the Mother Goose Society, "the rhymes are from different sources, passed down in folklore fashion (some even written by famous authors) and perpetuated by publishers, frequently without author attribution."[1] The Mother Goose Society attributes the founding of this holiday to Gloria T. Delamar back in 1987, this date was in tandem to the publication of her book "Mother Goose; From Nursery to Literature".
Celebrate this day by reading or singing your favorite Mother Goose rhymes or by making Mother Goose inspired recipes like "pease porridge hot" (split-pea soup) or bake some "Muffin Man" muffins.
