About the Holiday
National Corndog Day celebrates this battered dipped meat on a stick and March Madness basketball. National Corndog day started in 1992 in the college town of Corvallis, Oregon by two young men named Brady Sahnow and Henry Otley. They were spending the weekend watching men's NCAA basketball tournaments. Having barely eaten and getting hungry they discovered a pack of frozen corndogs in their freezers and so they ate. A corndog is a hot dog, on a stick, with a thick layer of cornmeal batter that is deep fried.
