About the Holiday
National Data Privacy Day promotes privacy awareness and education. It's a day that educates individuals on the importance of protecting the privacy of their personal information. Anyone that stores private information like employers, employees, students, parents should all learn about best privacy practices. Some of the places that may include your personal information include new and old computers, flash drives, external hard drives/back ups, drivers' license, passport, social security card, old tax returns, pay stubs, etc.
Ironically (given the recent NSA data monitoring headlines), this holiday was created by an Act of Congress with the first observance held on January 28th, 2009.
