About the Holiday
National Fettuccine Alfredo Day celebrates the ribbon-like Fettuccine pasta and Alfredo sauce -- usually melted Parmesan cheese and butter -- that is a popular Italian dish. The dish was named by the owner of the Alfredo restaurant in Rome, Italy in 1914.[1]
Although, Fettuccine Alfredo is of Italian origin, it doesn't go by that name in Italy. In the Northern region, it is usually referred to as "pasta in bianco in white", while in Southern Italy it's commonly called "pasta al burro with butter".
