National Frozen Food Day became a national holiday on March 6, 1984 by then President Ronald Reagan. Frozen food first hit store shelves in 1930 in Springfield, Massachusetts by Clarence Birdseye who is considered to be the father of frozen foods. The frozen TV dinner first appeared in 1953. Freezing food preserves food from the time it's prepared to the time it's eaten. Most bacteria cannot grow once water is turned into ice. Frozen foods can be preserved for several months and has saved many tons of time in the kitchen.
