About the Holiday
National Frozen Yogurt Day celebrates this healthier alternative to ice cream. While frozen yogurt is a little more tart than ice cream, it's as creamy and contains beneficial probiotic bacteria and has less fat and calories. Starting in the 1970s, but gaining popularity in the 80s, Dannon was the first to commercially produce frozen yogurt.
Often frozen yogurt is eaten with similar toppings that you would have on ice cream like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cereal, candy, pineapple, mango, granola, nuts, chocolate chips, cookies or coconut.
