About the Holiday
On National Grammar Day we (use our best attempt to) eschew our bad grammar habits ingrained in our everyday, casual language in favor of adhearing to the grammatically proper way of writing and speaking. While we are definitely in favor of the showing prideful respect for the proper use of our mother tongue, we may need a couple of weeks prior to this day as a refresher on the topic of proper grammar. Perhaps, two weeks of holidays leading up to this day with each day being dedicated to a common grammatical error. Then, we might be ready for a proper celebration. ;)
This holiday was created by Martha Brockenbrough founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar (SPOGG) in 2008.
