About the Holiday
National Nutty Fudge Day celebrates the decadent sweet that includes the little crunch of nuts as well as smooth chocolaty flavor of fudge. The first fudge recipe dates back to the late 1800s from a young woman at Vassar College. It is said she sold fudge for 40 cents a pound at a Baltimore grocery store. Typically pecans or walnuts are used in nutty fudge recipes as well as lots of sugar and chocolate.
