About the Holiday
National Scavenger Hunt Day is a day for us to revert back to our childhood and enjoy the fun of a scavenger hunt. You don't have to be a kid to celebrate this one... Hide some extraneous items around the office and then send out an email with a prize for the first person to find them all. Or, set up an online scavenger hunt for people to track down items that can be found on the Internet. Of course this is also the perfect day to set up scavenger hunt for your kids and have a blast watching them run amok tracking down the hidden treasures.
We were unable to locate the origin of this holiday, however, the holiday's date coincides with the birthday of Elsa Maxwell born on May 24th, 1883, who is credited as the inventor of the Scavenger Hunt.[1] We'd still like to find out when, and how, this holiday originated. To help us, we've made finding the origin of this holiday a scavenger hunt of our own. Be the first person to bring us the origin of this holiday with a credible reference and win a prize.
