Contrary to what most people's initial expectation would be, Pins and Needles Day is not about being anxious or nervous in awaiting something to occur. Instead, this holiday celebrates the anniversary of the pro-labor play Pins and Needles that opened on this day in 1937 and was a lighthearted look at that then-current events from a pro-union standpoint. It ran for 1,108 appearances until June 22nd, 1940.
