About the Holiday
President's Day honors all past presidents. Two presidents that stand out on this day are George Washington (birthday is February 22nd) and Abraham Lincoln (birthday is February 12th). The United States of America used to celebrate both of these great president's birthdays. But, in 1971, President Nixon declared it one public holiday to be celebrated on the third Monday in February a day to honor all past presidents of the United State of America.
