Special Education Day marks the anniversary of Gerald Ford's signing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) into law on December 2nd, 1975. This law made education available to all American children. This holiday was first celebrated in 2005, on the 30th anniversary of the IDEA's signing.
