About the Holiday
World Wide Knit in Public Day, or WWKiP Day, was started by Danielle Landers in 2005 for the purpose of bringing knitters together to enjoy each other's company. Her feeling was that knitting is usually a solitary activity and would benefit from being more social where knitters could learn from each other.[1] There is even an official holiday website. You can celebrate this day by attending or hosting a public knitting event, referred to as a kip.
