About the Holiday
DNA Day commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in April of 2003 and the discovery of DNA's double helix structure by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953. This is a day for everyone to learn more about genetics and genomics. Per LiveScience.com "Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA is a molecule that contains the instructions an organism needs to develop, live and reproduce. These instructions are found inside every cell, and are passed down from parents to their children."
