About the Holiday
Letter Writing Day is a day to put the pen to paper instead texting, emailing, Facebooking, or tweeting. Often referred to as snail mail, handwritten letters offer a more personal touch. Writing letters used to be the only means of communication. Letter writing has been mentioned as far back as when Homer wrote the Iliad. Many museums showcase letters written from soldiers to their wives or families during war times.
