About the Holiday
Look Up at the Sky Day encourages people to go outside and look up. On this day really pay attention to things you see. These may include clouds in all shapes and sizes, airplanes, birds or a flock of birds, a kite, an incoming storm, a rainbow, or maybe even a UFO. Just don't stare up at the sun. If you go out and look up at night notice any stars or constellations, the moon, planets, lightning, or perhaps a shooting star.
According to Space.com "the study of the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, gas, galaxies, gas, dust and other non-Earthly bodies and phenomena" is called Astronomy. The state of Montana's state motto is “Big Sky Country”.
We were unable to locate the origins of this holiday, though there are many references to it being celebrated on June 23rd.
