You can't buy anything with a penny nowadays. But back in our parent's and grandparent's days there was plenty of candy for a penny; hence the name Penny Candy Store. Inflation had eroded the value of the penny and there is talk about discontinuing them. But, they are still around so today we celebrate Lucky Penny Day. When you find a penny on the street, sidewalk, in your home, folks consider that lucky. As the old superstition goes "Find a penny, pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck". Some say that only finding a penny with the head up is good luck. If it's found heads down it's bad luck.
