About the Holiday
National Gaming at Your Library Day provides a safe, non-commerical, social place to interact with others in your community and around the nation. This holiday is supported by the ALA (American Library Association) and many libraries provide traditional games like chess, checkers, battleship, or scrabble while others introduce Nintendo Wii games for those that have not played on that before. In the past some libraries were part of a national tournament with games Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Frogger. A bonus for providing a gaming day is that often kids will return to the library for other reasons like taking advantage of the free resources it has.
