About the Holiday
It's not clear how National Potato Chip Day started, but we can thank restauranteur, George Crum (a.k.a. George Speck), for the invention of this tasty little treat in 1853. Crum created the little crisps to annoy a complaining customer who was unhappy with the French Fries. Little did he know he'd created what is now America's favorite snack. China is the world's largest producer of potatoes.
