Today is National Sugar Cookie Day. Sugar cookies are easy to make cookies and are one of the most popular types cookies, especially during holidays like Christmas. The American-version of the sugar cookie originated back in the 1700's from German settlers in Nazareth Pennsylvania, they perfected a sugar cookie recipe called the Nazareth Sugar Cookie. On September 5, 2001, the sugar cookie became the official cookie of the state of Pennsylvania. Celebrate today by enjoying lots of sugar cookies, why not have a cookie decorating party and create your own cookie art.
