About the Holiday
Pardon Day is a day to seek forgiveness. If you have wronged someone or hurt their feelings, then you should seek them out to say you're sorry and to sincerely ask their forgiveness. On the other side of the fence, it's also a good day to be gracious in giving forgiveness to someone who is truly sorry for what they have done. Using today to remember to be polite by saying "excuse me" or "pardon me" when trying to get around people is also a good way to pay tribute to the spirit of being harmonious with others. A little kindness goes a long way.
The origin of Pardon Day goes back to the Presidential Pardon granted by President Gerald Ford to previous president Richard Nixon which occurred on September 8th, 1974.
