About the Holiday
In 1877 Thomas Edison invented the phonograph. Little did he know the impact his "Talking Machine" would make on the world. Vinyl Record Day was founded to preserve the cultural influence, the recordings and the cover art of vinyl records. With less then 5% of our musical history transferred to CDs one can understand the importance of preserving vinyl records. Vinyl record day's mission is to educating the public about the historical importance of these audio recordings.
