World Penguin Day marks the time of year the millions of of our flightless feathered friends, penguins, migrate north. All known species of penguins live in the southern hemisphere. Penguins are birds that have white and black features. They do not fly. Instead the swim or waddle. They spend 75% of their time under water and can swim an average of 15mph. Their main diet is fish but they will also eat squid, krill, and crustaceans. They can drink salt water thanks to special gland they have that takes the salt out of the water.
