About the Holiday
Dyngus Day is a Polish holiday that falls on the Monday after Easter and celebrates the end of Lent. It is sometimes referred to as Wet Easter Monday. The history of this holiday dates back to 966 A.D. when Prince Mieszko I was baptized marking the first Polish Christian King and the conversion of Poland to Christianity/Catholicism. The tradition is that on Monday boys sprinkle water on girls and tap them with Pussy Willows. Females are to take revenge the next day. The holiday is celebrated in some parts of the USA especially in Buffalo, NY.
