About the Holiday

While getting credit is easy for many, using credit wisely can be a challenge. Bad credit habits formed early on can snowball quickly into a sticky situation. Get Smart About Credit Day is a holiday geared toward helping young people enjoy the benefits of developing good credit habits early in life. Perhaps, the spirit of this holiday should also be shared with our government elected.

This holiday was originated in 2003 by the American Bankers Association (ABA) Education Foundation to create a national campaign where volunteer bankers help counsel young people on responsible credit habits. The ABA continues to sponsor this program each year and more information can be found here.
