About the Holiday
Pluto Day is celebrated on February 18th as it was on that day in 1930 that American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto at the Percival Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. At the time, Pluto was known as the ninth planet from the sun in our solar system. It has since been re-categorized as a dwarf planet. Many want to reinstate Pluto as a planet.
