About the Holiday
Religious Freedom Day falls on the anniversary of the passing of the Statute of Virginia for Religious Freedom written by Thomas Jefferson on January 16, 1786. This statute helped shape the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. In places like the USA Americans are free to practice any religion they want or can choose to not practice any religion at all.
