Sandwich Day is the anniversary of John Montagu's, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. The Earl was an avid gambler and is rumored to have told servants during a 24 hour gambling game to put meat between two slices of bread so he could eat with one hand. Sandwiches are the second most popular lunch item according to the National Restaurant Association.
