About the Holiday
Victims of Violence Holy Day is the 2nd of three Emancipation Days of Respect that honor those who've sacrificed to the change the laws of segregation in America as well as supporting those who've suffered at the hands of slavery and violence. This day marks the assassination of Martin Luther King in Memphis on April 4th, 1968. In observing this day, people should wear black to show solidarity with the victims of slavery and violence.
