About the Holiday
Watermelon Day is a holiday that was created to celebrate one of the most adored fruits in the southern part of the United States. This fruit is not only loved in America, but all over the world. In Japan they have found a way to grow watermelons that are square, so that they can be easily stacked and transported. And in Vietnam, this fruit is considered good luck and is a popular gift during the Tet holiday there.
This versatile fruit can be in many different recipes such as jams, smoothies, and even pickles. You can eat every part of the watermelon, but the best way to commemorate this day is to have a good old seed spitting contest.
